Humble Beginnings
Like many successful entrepreneurs and business people, I had very humble beginnings. I grew up in an Italian family, and as a child, I spent mt time helping my father collect scrap metal and getting my hands dirty. Sadly, tragedy hit my family early in my life. I lost my father to cancer when she was only 16 years old. My mother, being a traditional Italian wife, was always in charge of the home and didn’t have any outside work experience. Because of this, I left school and began working two jobs to help support our family.
Five years after my father’s death, I gave birth to my first son. Being a stay-at-home mom meant that I had to get creative with making an income. I tried all different kinds of entrepreneurial work including: making chocolate pops, creating custom tee shirts, and even hosting yard sales.
Eventually, I decided to join the sales team with Avon. I did well, but after the birth of two more sons I left the company. Although I left Avon, the lessons I learned about sales, customer service and being genuine has served me well as I progressed on my entrepreneurial journey.
